論。此識依見至增長義故　述曰。此明識所依見。謂五見。即見道斷所有分別發業煩惱。發業惑中見最強故。舉此名攝分別貪等。即五住中見一處住地。愛謂三界修道所斷所有俱生潤生煩惱。潤生惑中愛最強故。舉此亦攝俱生癡等。即五住中欲色有愛三住地也。以此見修二種煩惱熏於本識令其起此分別事識。故云此識依見愛煩惱所增長也。

Treatise: This consciousness relies on views... because of the meaning of increase.
Commentary: This clarifies that on which the consciousness relies: "views" refers to the five views, which are the afflictions of discrimination that initiate karma and are severed on the path of seeing. Because views are the strongest among afflictions that initiate karma, mentioning this subsumes discriminative greed and so forth; this is the ground of views in one place among the five grounds. "Craving" refers to the innate afflictions that moisten rebirth and are severed on the path of cultivation across the three realms. Because craving is the strongest among the afflictions that moisten rebirth, mentioning this also subsumes innate ignorance and so forth; these are the three grounds of desire, form, and existence-craving among the five grounds. Because these two kinds of afflictions of seeing and cultivation perfume the root consciousness, causing it to produce this consciousness of discriminating phenomenal objects, it says that this consciousness is increased by relying on the afflictions of views and craving.
