論。三者發起至離癡慢故　述曰。此顯攝善法戒修一切善。發起等者。初列名也。謂由勤故發起善根。復由勤故善根增長。即是順真如之方便也。謂勤供養禮拜等者。未生善法令發生。由信增長生諸善故。又為佛僧力等者。已生善法令增長。消障不退由善增故。隨順等者。釋方便名。發起善根生福智故。故順離癡。善根增長滅業障故。故順離障。故起善根以為順真之方便也。

[Treatise:] Third, generating... because it is free from delusion and pride.
[Exposition:] This reveals the precepts of embracing wholesome dharmas, which cultivate all goods. 'Generating,' and so forth, first provides the name: through diligence, one generates roots of goodness; furthermore, through diligence, roots of goodness increase. This is the skillful means of according with suchness. 'Diligently making offerings, paying homage,' and so forth, causes unarisen wholesome dharmas to arise; because faith increases, all goods are generated. 'Moreover, through the power of the Buddha and Saṅgha,' and so forth, causes already arisen wholesome dharmas to increase; eliminating hindrances and not falling back are due to the increase of goodness. 'According with,' and so forth, explains the name 'skillful means.' Generating roots of goodness produces merit and wisdom; hence it accords with freedom from delusion. The increase of roots of goodness extinguishes karmic hindrances; hence it accords with freedom from hindrances. Therefore, generating roots of goodness is taken as the skillful means of according with suchness.
