[Treatise:] "Breaks through the compounded consciousness… because it is pure and genuine."

Commentary: This explains the one fruition. Through the preceding expedients, one is able to break through the internal arising and ceasing phases of the compounded ālaya consciousness, revealing the non-arising and non-ceasing pure dharmakāya; hence it says, "breaks through the phase of the compounded consciousness and manifests the dharmakāya." Severing the activity, transformation, and manifestation [phases] within the defiled mind causes the awakening that accords with defilement to return to the source, becoming the pure and genuine cognition of the nirmāṇakāya; hence it says, "extinguishes the phase of the continuous mind, because the cognition is pure and genuine." Freedom from phases is called "genuine"; the exhaustion of defiled conditions is called "pure."
