[Treatise:] "That is, relying on sentient beings of indeterminate destiny..." [Commentary:] The answer below has two parts: first, directly answering the previous question; second, presenting the inferior to reveal the superior. In the first part there are also two: first, answering the three questions separately; second, concluding with entering the stages. Answering the three questions is divided into three. This reveals the practitioner, answering the first question. Differentiating the three destinies involves four approaches; here, it is differentiated purely in terms of stages. From the ten abodes upward is called the destiny of absolute certainty, because one abides in the noble lineage. Those who have not yet entered the ten faiths are called the destiny of absolute falsehood, because they turn their backs on the correct cause. The intermediate ten faiths are called the indeterminate destiny, because their practice advances and regresses. Now, in reliance on this person, the practice performed is clarified; hence it says, "relying on sentient beings of indeterminate destiny."
