[Treatise:] What are the four? ... the dharma of tathatā. [Commentary:] Below, the four faiths are explained, divided into four. This first is having faith that there is the cause for attaining Buddhahood. Since tathatā is the master of all Buddhas and the source of all practices, it is called the fundamental. Delightedly minding and contemplating it is therefore called faith. Because it is the foundation of the latter three faiths, it is explained first.
