[Treatise:] Regarding equal conditions […] manifesting their activities.
[Exposition:] Next, equal conditions are displayed. In this there are two parts: first, clarifying those who can act as conditions; next, explaining the meaning of "equality." This is the first. Saying "bodhisattvas" refers to those of the first bhūmi and above, for upon entering the bhūmis they first realize the cognition of identical essence. "All wishing to deliver" refers to an equal mind; through this they wish to deliver all sentient beings. "Spontaneous" and so on means that their constant function responds to capacities, effortlessly perfuming without interruption. "By virtue of identical essence" and so on means that by obtaining the equal essence of sentient beings, in seeking to extinguish others' suffering they seek to extinguish their own suffering, and as appropriate for seeing and hearing, they manifest activities and functions.
