5.56

論。修行有五門能成此信　釋曰。下答修行。於中有三。初舉數標意。次依數列名。後依門別解。此初也。前雖學起四之壞信。若無行成即信不堅。不堅之信遇緣便退。故修五行以成四信。

The treatise says: "Cultivating practice has five gates that are able to accomplish this faith." The commentary says: Below it answers concerning cultivating practice. In this there are three parts: first, stating the number and indicating the intent; second, enumerating the names according to the number; third, explaining them separately according to the gates. This is the first. Previously, although one learned to generate the four types of indestructible faith, without accomplishment through practice that faith will not be firm; unfirm faith regresses upon encountering conditions. Therefore, one cultivates the five practices to accomplish the four types of faith.
