The Vajrasamādhi-sūtra, Chapter 6, "Emptiness of the True Nature": Śāriputra said: "As the Venerable One has said, prior to activities, grasping the fundamental benefit is the mindfulness of śānti. Śānti is thusness (tathatā); holding all virtues and encompassing the myriad phenomena, it is harmoniously fused, non-dual, and inconceivable. One should know that this Dharma is none other than Mahāprajñāpāramitā; it is the great transcendent spell, the great brightening spell, the unsurpassed spell, the unequalled spell." The Buddha said: "So it is, so it is. Tathatā's empty nature—the fire of wisdom of the nature's emptiness burns away all fetters. Equal, equal! It is equal awakening on the three bhūmis, wondrous awakening of the three bodies (trikāya), gleaming brilliantly pure within the navavijñāna, free from all shadows. If there are sentient beings who have no remaining extraneous thoughts, at that time a bodhisattva constantly manifests a transformation body, provisionally protecting such a person and never leaving their side."
