The Laṅkāvatāra-sūtra says:
"In future ages there will be those
whose bodies wear the kāṣāya,
who falsely preach of existence and non-existence,
destroying my True Dharma."
The Buddha addressed Mahāmati: "Those foolish people speak of three vehicles and do not speak of mind-only without any perceptual spheres. All foolish tīrthikas falsely see an agent and that which is done, all clinging to theories of existence and non-existence; therefore they have no liberation. Nirvāṇa is detached from mind and mentation; only this single dharma is real. The storehouse consciousness is called the mind (citta), and deliberation is called the intellect (manas). The mind is like white cloth; the habits of mental consciousness are its defilement. Soiled by the habits of defilement, the mindful mind is not manifested. If one follows words to grasp meanings and establishes dharmas, because of that establishment, at death one falls into hell."
