何乃同觀覿異等者。覿見也。矚視也。瞰又視也。諒信也。否惡也。藏善也。謂水是一。四見不同。信可由心。與離心執善惡全別也。

"Why, then, when looking at the same [object], do they see it differently?" and so forth: "Qie" (覿) means to see; "zhu" (矚) means to gaze; "kan" (瞰) also means to look; "liang" (諒) means to trust; "fou" (否) means evil; "zang" (藏) means good. That is, the water is one, yet the four visions differ. Trust indeed depends on the mind, completely distinct from good and evil as grasped apart from the mind.
