1.9

故我等者。此則後顯述申敬意。前之二句述歸敬意。後之二句述製作意。第三句意顯以法燈常照生死久處愚闇諸眾生也。第四句意永去眾生二障所覆重昏之闇。

'Therefore I…', and so forth: this then subsequently expresses the intention of paying reverence. The first two lines state the intention of taking refuge and paying homage. The latter two lines state the intention of composing the work. The intention of the third line displays using the lamp of Dharma to constantly illuminate all sentient beings who have long dwelt in the dark ignorance of saṃsāra. The intention of the fourth line is to eternally eliminate the thick darkness of delusion covered by sentient beings' two hindrances.
