'The four unhindered [knowledges], the various dhāraṇī-doors', and so forth: since these four unhindered knowledges and various dhāraṇī-doors take mindfulness and wisdom as their essential nature, they are therefore named 'all good and wise dharmas'. They can remove the fever of all afflictions of sentient beings, just like entering a pool to bathe and obtaining cool refreshment; therefore, they are compared to that 'cool pool'. However, these four unhindered knowledges and the like practiced here are only attained in resemblance, not attained in true fullness. True attainment is upon the bhūmis; full attainment is on the ninth bhūmi. Therefore this is only an attainment in resemblance. The meaning of the four unhindered knowledges, and so forth, is explained below; it will not be listed repetitively here.
