Reflecting on hungry ghosts, they are truly pitiable: / Over their entire bodies, fierce flames constantly burn. / Their two ears never hear the words for syrup or water; / Across their single frame, only bones are strung together. / Coming upon food, about to eat, it instantly turns into fire; / Approaching a river, wishing to drink, they behold a parched spring. / May they leave this suffering behind and be born in bliss, / Forever abiding in the West, seated on jeweled lotuses.
