迷塗一配畜生身　遙歷多年受苦辛
嚴冬露地居寒雪　盛夏當街臥闇塵
衣裳盡用皮毛覆　飲食唯將水草珍
願離此苦生安樂　長處西方坐寶蓮

Once cast by the confused path into an animal's body, / One undergoes bitterness and toil across endless years. / In severe winter on open ground, dwelling amid cold snow; / In peak summer right on the streets, lying in murky dust. / All their clothing is merely covered in fur and hide; / For food and drink they prize only water and grass. / May they leave this suffering behind and be born in bliss, / Forever abiding in the West, seated on jeweled lotuses.
