In five tempos one must redouble reverence; / invoke the name and contemplate the purple-gold. / Discern the false and the true within the mind; / the contemplated sphere will not invade. / In Sukhāvatī the jewelled grove is pure; / the gentle breeze carries the sound of the five tempos. / Within the sounds, the wondrous Dharma is discussed; / listeners awaken to the unborn. / In the pure land the jewelled grove is bright; / Amitābha's five-tempo sound resounds. / Those who hear it all give rise to joy; / they do not hear the names of any sufferings. / Passing by the white jade pond, / fragrance arises within the lotus leaves. / In the sky the Brahma sound unfolds; / the five tempos are eternal across long kalpas. / Momentarily arriving at the jewelled city tower, / rambling at ease, what is there to worry about? / Hearing only the recitation of the five tempos, / across long kalpas what more is there to worry about? / In the jewelled land there are many true lands; / with majesty the five-tempo sound is proclaimed. / Constantly hearing the adorned and pure sounds, / from here it gradually grows subtle and deep. / In Sukhāvatī are golden trees; / the blossoming flowers emit the sound of the five tempos. / Wishing to cause all his children, / whoever hears it, to fully cultivate the practice. / Holding lotuses containing nine grades, / the flowers receive those reborn. / As the five tempos continue in continuous song, / from this they wash away adventitious defilements. / Whose children are these in Sukhāvatī, / born from within the lotus leaves? / It is through hearing the five tempos / that from now on they rest from worldly glory. / In the pure land is jewel-gem water, / flowing everywhere through channels. / The water's sound carries the five tempos; / those who hear it are forever free from sorrow.
