"Śāriputra, just as I now praise the inconceivable virtues of the Buddhas, those Buddhas likewise praise my inconceivable virtues, speaking these words: 'Śākyamuni Buddha is able to accomplish an extremely difficult and rare feat: in the Sahā land, during the evil era of the five defilements—the defilement of the kalpa, the defilement of views, the defilement of afflictions, the defilement of sentient beings, and the defilement of lifespan—he has attained anuttarā-samyak-saṃbodhi, and for the sake of all sentient beings preaches this Dharma that is difficult for all the world to believe.' Śāriputra, you should know that for me, in the evil era of the five defilements, to practice this difficult feat, attain anuttarā-samyak-saṃbodhi, and preach this Dharma difficult to believe for the sake of all the world—this is exceedingly difficult!" When the Buddha finished speaking this sūtra, Śāriputra, the monks, and the gods, humans, asuras, and others of all worlds, having heard what the Buddha said, rejoiced, faithfully accepted it, paid homage, and departed.
