The three realms have no peace, like a burning house; / the open ground at the crossroads is entangled with dust. / Weary of dwelling in birth and death, living as flesh and bone, / how can one dwell in the womb with the five aggregates? / Just now in this life one generates the aspiration for the Way; / rarely encountered, the Pure Land Dharma-gate has opened. / I vow to attain the Western Land of Peace and Nurture, / where Amitābha and the holy assembly will surely lead us by hand. / Through the two gates of concentrated and dispersed [practice] one can attain rebirth; / the nine grades of fine dust all mount the pedestals. / Arriving there, one attains the three knowledges and eight liberations; / bidding farewell forever to the five defilements, one sees the Tathāgata.
