佛言。此經名為。大通方廣。能破魔境。壞外道軍。消除煩惱。能解五欲邪見繫縛。破三界獄。放諸生死。向涅槃舍。潤益久涸正因種子。雨大緣因六度法雨。增長眾生三乘芽華。成就一乘菩提極果。善男子。汝問經名。我說如是。汝當受持。

The Buddha said: "This sūtra is named 'Great Universal Vaipulya.' It can destroy the realm of Māra, defeat the armies of tīrthikas, extinguish defilements, unbind the fetters of the five desires and false views, shatter the prison of the three realms, release [beings from] various births and deaths, lead them toward the house of nirvāṇa, moisten and benefit the seeds of the direct cause that have long been parched, rain down the great contributory cause of the Dharma rain of the six perfections, cause the sprouts and blossoms of the three vehicles of sentient beings to grow, and accomplish the ultimate fruit of the bodhi of the One Vehicle. Good man, you asked for the name of the sūtra; I have spoken it thus. You should accept and uphold it."
