The bodhisattva mahāsattva Siṃhanāda said further to the Buddha: "Bhagavat, as the Buddha has said, there are neither two nor three. These vaipulya scriptures are the mother of all Buddhas, the great path of bodhisattvas, the eyes of practitioners; they rein in all wrong views, rescue and protect those who have lost their minds, close off the three evil destinies, open the gate to unexcelled bodhi, advance all the śrāvakas, and direct them toward the Mahāyāna. I shall protect them with a great dhāraṇī-mantra. I shall also protect those who purely maintain moral conduct and cultivate and study this sūtra. Or if someone reveres this scripture and cultivates for seven days, and evil māras wish to come and harass them, I will cause all evil māras to find no opportunity. Bhagavat, I protect this sūtra to cause it to abide long and bring bodhi-nature to its fullness."
The Buddha said: "Good son, in protecting this sūtra, you protect the Three Jewels, and you also protect those who practice the teaching."
