1.16

若善男子善女人。其聞此經諸佛名者。此輩眾生當為諸佛之所護持。必當逮得不退轉地。當成無上正真之道。如是舍利弗。一心信樂。當廣宣傳。至心奉行。若使有人持我名字。執持懷抱此上諸佛名號字者。持此之福。至心願生阿彌陀佛國。若過去發願。若今發願。欲得往生阿彌陀佛國者。此輩眾生必當得住不退轉地。此等命終皆當往生阿彌陀佛國。又舍利弗。若善男子善女人。欲得往生阿彌陀佛國者。常當至心念阿彌陀佛及上六方諸佛名。一心敬禮莫令斷絕。

If there are good men or good women who hear the names of the Buddhas in this sūtra, these sentient beings will be protected and sustained by all the Buddhas, will certainly attain the stage of non-retrogression, and will accomplish the unsurpassed, correct, and true Path. Thus, Śāriputra, with a single mind believe and rejoice, widely propagate it, and practice it with utmost sincerity. If there is a person who upholds my name, and embraces and holds the names of the above Buddhas, upholding this blessing, and with utmost sincerity vows to be born in the land of Amitābha Buddha—whether they made the vow in the past or make the vow now, desiring to be born in the land of Amitābha Buddha—these sentient beings will certainly abide in the stage of non-retrogression; at the end of their lives they will all be born in the land of Amitābha Buddha. Moreover, Śāriputra, if good men or good women wish to be born in the land of Amitābha Buddha, they should constantly and with utmost sincerity be mindful of Amitābha Buddha and the names of the Buddhas of the six directions above, paying homage with a single mind and not allowing it to cease.
