「或時菩薩入喜三昧，遍滿西方無限無量阿僧祇恒河沙等剎眾生之類，喜念眾生欲令解脫，以恒河沙中取一沙，過恒河沙乃下一沙，如是盡恒河沙喜心不盡，若彼眾生入喜令自娛樂，皆是菩薩發意堅固，即於胎中成無上道。

"Or at times a bodhisattva enters the samādhi of sympathetic joy, pervading the west throughout infinite, immeasurable, asankhyeya realms, equal to the sands of the Ganges, toward the categories of sentient beings, mindfully rejoicing over sentient beings, wishing to bring about their liberation. Taking one grain of sand from the sands of the Ganges, passing sands of the Ganges and then depositing one grain, in this way exhausting the sands of the Ganges, their mind of sympathetic joy is not exhausted; if those sentient beings enter joy to amuse themselves, this is all due to the bodhisattva's firm resolve, immediately accomplishing the unsurpassed Path within the womb.
