迦葉白佛言：「今聞說法增益狐疑。何以故？如佛所說，想亦是受，受亦是想，識法分別識亦是想，亦是受想，想自空受，受自空識，識自空想。空非識空，識空非受空，受空非想空。如樹喻者是事不然。」

Kāśyapa addressed the Buddha, saying: "Now hearing this teaching increases my doubts. Why? As the Buddha has spoken: ideation is also sensation, sensation is also ideation; when the dharma of consciousness is analyzed, consciousness is also ideation, and also sensation and ideation; ideation is inherently empty of sensation, sensation is inherently empty of consciousness, and consciousness is inherently empty of ideation. Emptiness is not the emptiness of consciousness; the emptiness of consciousness is not the emptiness of sensation; the emptiness of sensation is not the emptiness of ideation. Like the parable of the tree, this matter is not so."
