5.9

爾時，世尊告自在菩薩：「汝今舉目南看，是無央數轉輪聖王列住南方。轉輪聖王功德多少如上所說，五戒十善、恭奉賢聖、持仙人戒、八清淨齋，根相連屬為人慈愍無傷害心，受業果報其福難量。故得紹繼轉輪王位。」

At that time, the Bhagavat told Bodhisattva Zizai: "Now raise your eyes and look to the south; there are countless wheel-turning sage kings standing arrayed in the southern direction. The extent of the wheel-turning sage kings' merits is as described above: holding the five precepts and the ten wholesome deeds, honoring the sages, maintaining the rishi precepts and the eightfold pure upavasatha, their good roots linked continuously, acting with compassion toward people without any harmful intent; the retribution of their karmic deeds bears blessings difficult to measure. Therefore they succeed to the throne of a wheel-turning king."
