The Buddha told the bodhisattva Body-Contemplation: "So it is, so it is! It is as you have said. When the eye contemplates form, form is not my form, and I am not that form; consciousness is not my consciousness, and I am not that consciousness. Up to sound, odor, taste, touch, and dharmas, it is likewise: dharmas are not my dharmas, and I am not those dharmas. In the meaning of rootlessness, there is neither increase nor decrease. When the roots are pure, the path is also pure; mark-emptiness is pure, up to ultimate emptiness being likewise pure. Being single in purity and without duality, the five skandhas being pure, practice is pure, and the path is also pure. What is with resistance is pure, what is without resistance is pure, form is pure, and the path is also pure. When the bodhisattva's contemplation is pure, the six dusts are pure, and the path is also pure. When retinue is pure, nature is pure, and the path is also pure. When the stages are pure, abiding is pure, and the path is also pure. This is the meaning of rootlessness for bodhisattva-mahāsattvas."
