At that time, the Bhagavat again manifested the Quiescent World by his supernatural powers, causing that great assembly to fully know and see it; nor were there any spoken teachings with the names of suffering, origination, cessation, and path. Why is that? The sentient beings of that land are all individuals of sharp faculties of womb-birth and apparitional birth. The Buddha again manifested the Illumined World below by his supernatural powers, observing that those sentient beings receive, uphold, read, and recite [the teachings], only attaining the fruit of the path after passing through kalpas, knowing that these sentient beings of moisture-birth and egg-birth are individuals of dull faculties. The Buddha again manifested the Deathless Land by his supernatural powers, causing that great assembly to know that those sentient beings do not hear the name of death, knowing that these sentient beings of great compassion and vows are the supreme faculties among sharp faculties. The Buddha again manifested the Untimely-Death Land by his supernatural powers, causing that great assembly to fully know and see it; seeing that among those sentient beings there are those who die untimely because those sentient beings created the root of suffering themselves—their original lifespan was extremely long, but now their lifespan has gradually shortened. The king of that world is named Sorrow-Remover; he strips the skin of dead men to make drums, striking them once every hundred years to make those sentient beings all know the name of death, their lifespan gradually decreasing down to one hundred years, at which time there are those who transcend [it].
