"At that time, the Bhagavat told Śakra: 'Excellent, excellent! You have given rise to a vast resolve, desiring to rescue sentient beings from their suffering: causing those who have not attained to attain, those who have not obtained to obtain, and those who have not accomplished to accomplish; desiring to cause the blind to see light, the deaf to hear sound, the hunched to straighten, and the handless and footless to obtain hands and feet. Return to your original palace, sit beneath the bodhi tree, and discern the accumulated and dispersed phenomena of all practices.' Having heard these words, Śakra stepped forward, bowed to the Buddha, disappeared from that place, and returned to his heavenly palace. All his heavenly retinue came to take refuge and attach themselves to him; his merits grew increasingly magnificent, the signs of decline and exhaustion were eradicated forever without remainder, and sitting upright with restrained body and unmoving mind, he attained unsurpassed, perfectly true, equal and full enlightenment. The ninety-three billion heavenly maidens he led attained the verification of the four fruits of the path. This is what is meant by Śakra Devānām Indra not relinquishing the body or receiving a body, but attaining the Buddha path."
