16.12

「第一慚愧者，自惟我與釋迦如來同為凡夫，而今世尊成道以來已經爾所塵沙劫數，而我等相與耽染六塵，流浪生死永無出期，此實天下可慚可愧可羞可恥。

"First, regarding shame and remorse: one reflects that oneself and Śākyamuni Tathāgata were originally both ordinary beings, yet since the World-Honoured One attained awakening, as many kalpas as dust grains and sands have already passed, while we together have remained deeply attached to the six sense objects, wandering in saṃsāra without any end in sight. Under heaven, this is truly worthy of shame, remorse, humiliation, and disgrace.
