16.37

南門之中有百千罪人，沙門來入其中，唱如是言：「我今何罪，來入此中受罪如是？」唱聲大叫身中震裂，烟火俱出來入其中，空中火丸從口下入足下而出，身毛孔中皆亦火然，一日一夜受無量罪。

In the south gate were hundreds of thousands of sinners. Śramaṇas came and entered among them, crying out such words as: 'What sin have I committed now, that I have come to enter this place and suffer retribution like this?' Raising their voices, they shrieked loudly, their bodies shattering and cracking; smoke and fire arose together and entered into them. Fire pellets from the air entered down through their mouths and exited through the soles of their feet, and fire also blazed from the pores of their bodies. Day and night they suffered immeasurable retribution.
