佛告比丘：「彼諸微塵可知其數，彼同名釋迦牟尼佛，母同名摩訶摩耶，父同名輸頭檀王，城同名迦毘羅，第一聲聞弟子同名舍利弗、目揵連，侍者弟子同名阿難陀，不可知數。

The Buddha told the bhikṣu: "The number of those fine dust motes could be known, but the number of those Buddhas of the same name Śākyamuni whose mothers were all named Mahāmāyā, whose fathers were all named King Śuddhodana, whose cities were all named Kapilavastu, whose foremost śrāvaka disciples were all named Śāriputra and Maudgalyāyana, and whose attendant disciples were all named Ānanda, cannot be known.
