19.13

佛告舍利弗：「彼若干微塵分可知其數，然現今在世同名釋迦牟尼佛，母同名摩訶摩耶，父同名輸頭檀王，城同名迦毘羅，第一弟子同名舍利弗、目揵連，侍者弟子同名阿難陀，不可知數。何況種種異名佛？異名母？異名父？異名城？異名弟子？異名侍者？

The Buddha said to Śāriputra: “The number of those parts of subtle particles of dust might be known, yet the number of those presently dwelling in the world who share the same name Śākyamuni Buddha, whose mothers are likewise named Mahāmāyā, whose fathers are likewise named King Śuddhodana, whose cities are likewise named Kapila, whose foremost disciples are likewise named Śāriputra and Maudgalyāyana, and whose attendant disciples are likewise named Ānanda, cannot be known. How much less could one know those Buddhas of various different names, with mothers of different names, fathers of different names, cities of different names, disciples of different names, and attendants of different names?
