The Buddha said to Śāriputra: “Suppose there were another person who traversed as many Buddha-lands as those parts of subtle particles of dust in a single step, and with such swift supernatural power traveled through the worlds of the eastern direction, depositing one subtle particle of dust after immeasurable and boundless kalpas, until all such subtle particles of dust were exhausted in the eastern direction. Whether holding a subtle particle of dust or not, from down at the water boundary up to the Summit of Existence, it was entirely filled with subtle particles of dust. In the same way, from the southern direction throughout the ten directions, down to the water boundary and up to the Summit of Existence, it was entirely filled with subtle particles of dust. Śāriputra, what do you think? Could those subtle particles of dust be known in number?”
