19.19

“If an upāsaka or upāsikā repents to eradicate sins, they should with utmost sincerity revere the triratna. Whenever they see a śramaṇa, they should respectfully pay homage, conceiving of them as rare to encounter, invite them to the sanctuary, make various offerings, and invite one bhikṣu whom they deeply revere in their heart, confessing before him the sins committed and repenting with utmost sincerity. With single-minded devotion they should take refuge in the Buddhas of the ten directions, reciting their names and paying homage. If they complete seven days in this manner, they will surely attain purity, except if they lack sincerity.”
