“Śāriputra, in the east there is a world named Ratnasaṃcaya. In that world there is a Buddha named Ratnaviśiṣṭa, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha, who is presently preaching the Dharma. If a kulaputra or kuladuhitṛ hears that Buddha’s name and with utmost sincerity upholds, remembers, reads, recites, joins palms, and pays homage to him; and if there were another kulaputra or kuladuhitṛ who practiced giving with treasures sufficient to fill a trichiliocosm, giving in this way every day for a full hundred years—the merit of such giving would not equal one-hundredth part of the merit of the former person’s wholehearted homage, nor one-thousandth part, nor one-hundred-thousandth part, nor any fraction by counting, nor any fraction by calculation, nor any fraction by metaphor.”
