佛告寶積：「十方現在諸佛善德如來等，亦曾得聞是五十三佛名故，於十方面各皆成佛。若有眾生，欲得除滅四重禁罪，欲得懺悔五逆十惡，欲得除滅無根謗法極重之罪，當勤禮敬五十三佛名號：

The Buddha addressed Ratnakūṭa: “The present buddhas of the ten directions, such as Bhadraśrītathāgata, also formerly succeeded in hearing the names of these fifty-three buddhas, and therefore each became a buddha in the ten directions. If there are sentient beings who wish to eliminate the four pārājika offences, who wish to repent of the five unpardonable sins and the ten unwholesome courses of action, and who wish to eliminate the extremely grave sin of rootlessly slandering the Dharma, they should diligently pay homage to the names of the fifty-three buddhas:
