Namo to all Buddhas of the past, present, and future, in the ten directions and three periods of time, filling the realm of empty space. Taking refuge, we confess and repent: "With utmost sincerity, we confess and repent! Having finished confessing all karmic obstacles, we next confess and repent all obstacles toward the Buddha, Dharma, and Saṅgha. In the sūtras, the Buddha spoke: 'A human body is difficult to obtain, the Buddha's Dharma is difficult to hear, the Saṅgha is difficult to encounter, faith is difficult to produce, the six sense faculties are difficult to possess completely, and good friends are difficult to find.' Yet now, through wholesome roots planted in previous lives, we have obtained this human body, complete with all six sense faculties, and have encountered good friends and heard the true Dharma. Meanwhile, we have each failed to be diligent with our whole hearts, and we fear that in the future we will long drown in myriad sufferings with no time of release. Therefore, today, with extreme shame and remorse, we confess and repent them all.
