爾時，行者雖得一心，定力未成，猶為欲界煩惱所亂，當作方便，進學初禪，呵棄愛欲。云何呵棄？觀欲界過，欲為不淨，種種不善；當念初禪，安隱快樂。

At that time, although the practitioner has attained one-pointedness of mind, the power of concentration is not yet perfected, and he is still disturbed by the afflictions of the desire realm. He should apply skillful means to advance in studying the first dhyāna and scold and abandon sensuous desire. How does he scold and abandon it? By contemplating the faults of the desire realm: desire is impure and contains various unwholesome things; he should think upon the first dhyāna as peaceful and joyful.
