2.72

此中十二分，云何無明分？不知前、不知後、不知前後，不知內、不知外、不知內外，不知佛、不知法、不知僧，不知苦、不知習、不知盡、不知道，不知業、不知果、不知業果，不知因、不知緣、不知因緣，不知罪、不知福、不知罪福，不知善、不知不善、不知善不善，不知有罪法、不知無罪法，不知應近法、不知應遠法，不知有漏法、不知無漏法，不知世間法、不知出世間法，不知過去法、不知未來法、不知現在法，不知黑法、不知白法，不知分別因緣法，不知六觸法，不知實證法。如是種種不知不慧不見，闇黑無明，是名無明。

Among these twelve links, what is the link of ignorance? Not knowing the past, not knowing the future, not knowing the past and future; not knowing the internal, not knowing the external, not knowing the internal and external; not knowing the Buddha, not knowing the Dharma, not knowing the Saṃgha; not knowing suffering, not knowing its arising, not knowing its cessation, not knowing the path; not knowing karma, not knowing its fruit, not knowing karma and fruit; not knowing causes, not knowing conditions, not knowing causes and conditions; not knowing demerit, not knowing merit, not knowing demerit and merit; not knowing the good, not knowing the unwholesome, not knowing the good and unwholesome; not knowing faulty dharmas, not knowing faultless dharmas; not knowing dharmas to be associated with, not knowing dharmas to be avoided; not knowing dharmas with outflows, not knowing dharmas without outflows; not knowing mundane dharmas, not knowing supramundane dharmas; not knowing past dharmas, not knowing future dharmas, not knowing present dharmas; not knowing black dharmas, not knowing white dharmas; not knowing the dharmas of analyzing causes and conditions; not knowing the dharmas of the six contacts; not knowing the dharmas of actual realization. Such various kinds of unknowing, absence of wisdom, and lack of vision—blind darkness without illumination—this is called ignorance.
