1.48

「若發大乘心者，闍婆善財等五百童子為說大乘法，因是得見跋陀婆羅等十六賢士，亦見賢劫彌勒等千菩薩。因發阿耨多羅三藐三菩提心、具六波羅蜜；發聲聞心者，尊者賓頭盧為說四念處法乃至八聖道分，經九十日得阿羅漢道。」

"If [the practitioner] has generated the aspiration for the Great Vehicle, the five hundred youths including Jīva and Sudhana will expound the Great Vehicle Dharma for him, through which he will see the sixteen virtuous men such as Bhadrapāla, and will also see the one thousand bodhisattvas of the Auspicious Kalpa such as Maitreya. Because of this, he generates the mind of anuttarasamyaksaṃbodhi and fulfills the six pāramitās; if he has generated the mind of a śrāvaka, the Venerable Piṇḍola will expound for him the Dharma of the four applications of mindfulness up to the eightfold noble path, and after ninety days he will attain the way of an arhat."
