At one time the Buddha was staying in Śrāvastī at the Jeta Grove, in Anāthapiṇḍada's park, together with twelve hundred and fifty monks. On the fifteenth day of the fifth summer month, five hundred monks of the Śākya clan were beneath a bamboo grove practicing the Dharma of the araṇya, cultivating the twelve minds, and entering the vaiḍūrya samādhi through ānāpāna.
