"Furthermore, Śāriputra! If a practitioner is fond of composing verses and chanting praises in melodious tones, like the wind rustling the leaves of a sāla tree to produce gentle and elegant sounds, his voice pleasing to the ears of others like a Brahmā voice, uttering agreeable phrases to bring them joy—and because of this wind reverberation, he becomes arrogant and conceited, his mind like tangled weeds, drifting uncontrollably in every direction with the wind of afflictions, raising the banner of pride, beating the drum of self-aggrandizement, and playing with his channels so that he goes mad—like a foolish monkey gathering flowers and fruits, his mind without even momentary rest, unable to count the breath—he must be cured quickly.
