爾時父王閱頭檀，佛姨母憍曇彌，來詣僧房供養眾僧，禮拜既畢奉上楊枝及澡豆已，呼阿難言：「吾今欲往至世尊所，為可爾不？」

At that time, his royal father Śuddhodana and the Buddha's maternal aunt Gautamī came to the monastery to make offerings to the community of monks. When the prostrations were completed, they presented tooth-sticks and bath-powders, and then called Ānanda, saying: "I now wish to go before the Bhagavat. May I do so?"
