1.52

「至年八歲，姨母復觀悉達年大，其眉間毛亦隨年長。今試看之，即舒白毛，見毛正直如白琉璃筒，於其毛端出五色光明還入毛孔，母甚憐念情無已已，告語諸人：『我子毛相乃至如此。』諸人見已，如前右旋甚可愛念。是名菩薩童子時白毫毛相。

"When he reached eight years of age, his maternal aunt observed again that Siddhārtha had grown older, and the hair between his eyebrows must have grown along with his years. She then tested it by looking, stretching out the white hair. She saw that the hair was straight, like a tube of white lapis lazuli, and from the tip of the hair five-colored brilliant rays issued forth and returned into the pore. The mother was filled with deep affection, her feelings knowing no end, and said to the people: 'My son's hair-mark is even like this!' When the people had seen it, as before it curled to the right, exceedingly lovely. This is called the mark of the white curl during the Bodhisattva's boyhood.
