3.29

佛告父王：「如來舌相及舌功德，觀舌境界其事如是！佛滅度後，念佛心利觀佛舌者，心眼境界如向所說。作是觀者，除去百億八萬四千劫生死之罪，捨身他世，值遇八十億佛。於諸佛所，皆見諸佛廣長舌相，放大光明，亦復如是！然後得受菩提道記。」

The Buddha told his father the king: “The Tathāgata's mark of the tongue and the merits of his tongue, and the sphere of contemplating the tongue, are like this! After the Buddha's parinirvāṇa, for those who cultivate sharp mindfulness of the Buddha and contemplate the Buddha's tongue, the sphere of their mental eye will be as spoken above. One who performs this contemplation will eradicate the sins of life and death accumulated over a hundred billion eighty-four thousand kalpas, and upon relinquishing this body in another life, will encounter eighty billion Buddhas. In the presence of those Buddhas, they will see those Buddhas' marks of the broad and long tongue emitting great light, just like this! Thereafter, they will receive the prediction of the path to bodhi.”
