3.67

優婆夷眾中見佛色身猶如聚墨者，即從坐起合掌向佛，雨淚號哭悲不能言，舉手拍頭，氣絕躄地。是時世尊見是事已，以梵音聲安慰諸女，告言：「諸女！何故愁憂乃至如是？」

Among the assembly of upāsikās, those who saw the Buddha's rūpakāya as resembling a pile of black ink arose from their seats, joined their palms toward the Buddha, wept tears, cried out in lamentation, and were so sorrowful they could not speak; they raised their hands and struck their heads, lost their breath, and collapsed to the ground. At that time, the Bhagavat, having seen this, comforted the women with a Brahmā voice, saying: "Women! Why are you grieving to such an extent?"
