3.71

佛告諸女：「爾時諸女飯羅漢者，今汝等是！汝以善心施比丘食，二千劫中常不飢渴；坐前惡罵婬欲因緣，六十小劫墮黑闇獄；由前發願善心不滅，今遭我世得受五戒，乃是供養阿羅漢故，見舍利弗不見我身。」

The Buddha told the women: "Those women at that time who fed the arhat were none other than you yourselves! Because you gave food to the monk with a wholesome mind, for two thousand kalpas you were never hungry or thirsty; yet because of the conditions of your previous malicious abuse and lustful desire, you fell into the dark hell for sixty minor kalpas. Because the wholesome mind of your previous aspiration was not extinguished, you now encounter my era and are able to receive the five precepts; it was because you made offerings to an arhat that you can see Śāriputra but cannot see my body."
