6.31

「爾時世尊還祇陀林，末利夫人白言：『世尊！願化邪女莫還精舍。』佛告末利：『此女罪重於佛無緣，於羅睺羅有大因緣，佛今日行為其除罪。』作是語已即還精舍，告羅睺羅：『汝詣須達大長者家度惡老母。』作是語時千二百五十沙門皆作是言：『我等今日願欲隨從。』

"At that time, the Bhagavat returned to the Jetavana. Queen Mallikā addressed him, saying: 'Bhagavat! I pray that you transform this woman of wrong views; do not return to the monastery.' The Buddha said to Mallikā: 'This woman's sins are heavy; she has no karmic connection with the Buddha, but she has a great karmic connection with Rāhula. The Buddha's walk today was to eliminate her sins.' Having said this, he returned to the monastery and said to Rāhula: 'Go to the house of the great elder Sudatta and liberate the wicked old woman.' When he said this, one thousand two hundred and fifty ascetics all said: 'Today we wish to follow you.'
