“When this mark appeared, beneath the roots of the Buddha’s Bodhi tree, by the power of the white ūrṇā-hair, a jewelled lotus spontaneously manifested, forty yojanas in length and breadth evenly, with golden petals and an adamantine dais. The light from between the Buddha’s brows shone upon this flower dais, and its radiance went straight downward to the adamantine limit, where two adamantine seats were spontaneously manifested at the adamantine limit. Striking against each other, their sound shook the trichiliocosm, causing this great earth to shake in six ways. Those adamantine seats surged upward toward the lotus flower, reaching its root. The root of that lotus was also adamantine; the three adamantine elements struck one another, turned straight back down, passed through to the adamantine limit, revolving back and forth ten times. The radiance of the white ūrṇā encircled them in ten circuits, rendering the adamantine seats resolutely unshakeable.
