The Buddha told Ānanda: “To uphold these words is to uphold the Buddha’s mind; to engage in this contemplation is to be able to contemplate the Buddha’s mind. The Buddhas and Tathāgatas take great loving-kindness and compassion as their mind, and take morality, concentration, wisdom, liberation, and the knowledge and vision of liberation as their body, and adorn themselves with the ten powers, the four fearlessnesses, the eighteen unshared dharmas, and the three foundations of mindfulness of great compassion. Contemplating in this way is termed contemplating the Buddha’s mind.”
