At that time, the Bhagavat emitted his constant light, illuminating the Nyagrodhārāma and the lands of the ten directions, turning them all golden. Through the Buddha's supernatural power, the golden ground was made to divide into two sections. In each section, fifty billion Buddhas all leaped forth on their own from the realms below and stood in the sky. Joining their palms, they praised the bodhisattva mahāsattva Maitreya, saying: "Excellent, Son of the Buddha! You are truly able to pity the sentient beings of the future who will be born in the Latter Dharma, and to request the Bhagavat to explain the characteristics of contemplating the image." After those transformation Buddhas had spoken these words, they leaped into the sky and performed the eighteen transformations. Śākyamuni Buddha then smiled. When he smiled, a great lotus flower was produced from his mouth, whose light was like the combination of ten billion suns, moons, stars, and lunar mansions. Between the lunar mansions and moons were ten billion transformation Buddhas, seated cross-legged on lion thrones.
