The Buddha said: "When a man of the Way is practicing the Way, if a thought of ill-will arises, he should immediately restrain himself. Having restrained himself, he then thinks of the good; this is the practice of a man of the Way. If he gives wealth and profit [or] acquires it, he considers it impermanent and does not transgress in bodily action—meaning he does not commit killing, theft, or sexual misconduct; this is not transgressing in bodily action. One who removes ill-will does not speak it with his mouth nor think it in his mind; this is removing the exceedingly deep sound within the mind. Just as when a person commits theft, someone says: 'What you have done is utterly improper'; this is the exceedingly deep sound within the mind."
